What do we study in 7th grade Social Studies?
We will be focusing on United States History from the early 1800’s through The Great Depression, up to 1939.

Curriculum By Quarter 1st Quarter: The first half of the 1800’s, What led up to the Civil War, The Civil War itself, and Reconstruction. 2nd Quarter: The second half of the 1800’s: Industrialization, Inventions, Immigration. 3rd Quarter: The early 1900’s:, Progressivism, Imperialism, World War I. 4th Quarter: 1920’s – 1930’s: the Roaring 20’s & The Great Depression.

Grading Assessments ( tests, projects) 80% Practice (classwork) 20%

Core Enrichment 1 extra period a week with me during 4th period.
Split with Lunch in between A grade WILL be assigned to this class. Focus will be on researching and discussing Current Events, watching CNN 10, doing debates, reading Jr. Scholastic magazines and analyzing political cartoons. You need something to read for part of this class!!

Homework for Parents Check your child’s SS grade in ParentVUE weekly
Check my calendar page weekly for upcoming tests and projects in SS. Check your child’s supplies weekly. Every child should come to class every day with their SS folder, notebook paper and a pencil. Ask your child what we are discussing in this class regularly. Let them teach YOU about our country’s history.
