Dates to Remember What Are We Learning? Jan. 12th – Day 4 (Computers and Library) Jan.13th – Day 1 (PE) School Store Spirit Day: CCE Shirt Day Jan. 16th – MLK, Jr. Holiday – NO SCHOOL Jan. 23rd –NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS Math – (1.OA.1a) I can use addition within 20 to solve word problems. (1.OA.1b) I can use addition to find the missing number in a number sentence. (1.OA.1c) I can use subtraction within 20 to solve word problems. (1.OA.1d) I can use subtraction to find the missing number in a number sentence. ELA – (1.RI.6) I can distinguish between information by pictures, by words, or other illustrations to gain information from the text. (1.W.2c) I can write a summary sentence that ends the topic. Science – (1.E.1.1) I can explain how the objects in the sky move in a pattern. I can explain how the sun, moon and stars APPEAR to move. I can explain the amount, location, color, and brightness of stars. Learner Profile of the Month: Open-Minded We want our students to understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience. IB students have a deep understanding of various cultures and views, bringing an appreciation of new views to both their academic study and their involvement in local and wider communities. Their international mindedness complements the missions of the best tertiary institutions. Multicultural Night Coming Soon! Several staff members along with some parent volunteers are planning a wonderful night to celebrate culture on Friday, January 27th. There will be lots of fun activities to and great information shared. Please plan to attend. Letterland: Unit Fourteen Students will learn the final blends nd, nt, st, and sk. It is important that you hang onto your child’s pre-spelling list as it comes home on Friday. If you lose the word list, you can always go to our class webpage and print the list. KINDER SNAPSHOT: YOU’RE INVITED If you have a rising Kindergartener, please join us on Wednesday, January 25th 8:30am and 11am. During this time you will be given a tour of our school and be able to meet our Kindergarten teachers.
