RK-60The Ultimate Solution to Community Water Problems A Water Treatment Unit producing clean water at 60 Litres per minute safeguarded from worms, cysts, bacteria and viruses.
2
Typical Locations for the RK-60 In rural villages, safe drinking water is a scarce and precious commodity. Local water sources, surface and well water, can become contaminated with worms, cysts, bacteria and viruses. Mortality rates from drinking contaminated water are well documented in these areas. At the generally accepted figure of 5 litres per person, per day for drinking, food preparation and cooking, the RK-60 is capable of providing a clean, clear safeguarded water supply to sustain in excess of 14500 people.
3
Rural Water Treatment systems need to be: Easily Transportable Simple to operate Reliable Quickly deployed Rugged Not reliant on infrastructure (possible to work on gravity if enough water pressure is available). The RK-60 meets all these criteria and provides 60 litres of safe drinking water (at 20°C) per minute.
4
Performance of the RK-60 The RK-60 is designed to deliver 2.2 million litres of clean safeguarded water (at 20°C) before the media is changed. This unique water treatment system utilising the combination of technologies ensures a continuous supply of clean potable water from the most seriously contaminated sources.

The RK-60 Compact layout with easy access for maintenance. The rugged stainless steel frame has been designed to protect the components during transport over difficult terrain to remote sites. Requires 60-70 psi –which is provided by the 2hp pressure pump incorporated into the system. The control panel on the unit has an outlet to enable the system to be connected to the mains supply or a generator. Stainless in-take screen with flexible pipe. Waste pipe provided. Spanner for easy opening of housings 2296cm H, 1800cm W, 1470cm D.

The RK-60 Layout 1. Pressure pump 2 HP. 2. FRP Media tank filled with advanced sediment media capable of reducing particulate down to 3-5 micron in a single pass fitted with an electronic automatic backwashing control valve. 3. Dow Ultra Filtration membrane. The nominal pore diameter of 0.03 micron removes bacteria, viruses and particulates. 4. FRP Media tank filled with granular activated carbon. 2 1 3

The RK-60 Layout 5. 2 x BB 20 housings filled with ® * an Iodinated Resin developed for and used by NASA. 6. FRP media tank for contact time. 7. Iodosorb ® * – an iodine scavenging resin that removes all iodine from the treated water. 8. Granular activated carbon/KDF for final polish and to reduce heavy metals. * Space Certified Technologies 5 4 8 7 3 2 6 1

Operation and Maintenance The RK-60 has been developed to deliver clean microbiologically safeguarded water from severely contaminated surface water. Simple to operate with minimal maintenance required. The automatic control valve backwashes and rinses when triggered by the differential pressure switches incorporated into the unit. The Dow UF membrane is backwashed and rinsed using the treated water from the contact tank to ensure the optimum performance. The Dow UF membrane has an expected life of 5 years with correct maintenance. With exceptionally low maintenance requirements the RK-60 is un-paralleled in providing high quality potable water with minimal operating input.

The Ultimate Solution to Community Water Problems Civil Defence emergency requirements for clean safeguarded water are the same regardless of the country. The RK-60 is equally effective wherever the need. Quickly and easily set up and operated to produce 60 lpm of safe water from the most challenging sources.
