Explorer Hall of Fame Today, we will be learning about (and researching) some of the notable European explorers who helped to explore, conquer and colonize the New World. We will be counted off into groups and given one of the following people: Henry the Navigator, Ponce de Leon, Sir Walter Raleigh, Amerigo Vespucci, Hernando Cortes or Leif Erickson

A Few Roles Mapmaker – Roughly draw a “map” of North America, South American, Europe and Africa on the board Group Leaders – come to Mr. Kibret and get materials

Explorer Hall of Fame Your group will be given an information packet, try to find the following: 1. Where were they born? When? 2. Were they poor, rich, etc.? 3. What country did they explore for? 4. What did they discover? 5. Where did they travel? 6. Where they involved in any battles? 7. Why do they matter? After answering these questions as a group, write a Hall of Fame speech of why they should be considered legendary. Your group will present this to the class.
