Title I Program Introduction August 23, 2018

2 Title I Federal program that provides funding to assist students in reading and math Funding is based on percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and number of students in the school (Please fill out Free / Reduced Lunch Information)

3 Oak Hill School (School wide Title I Program)
Approximately 70% qualified last year for F/R lunch program School Improvement Team / PTA Board Meeting: All SIT meetings will be held at 3:15 in the media center. Dates listed below: 9/24/ /25/2019 10/29/ /25/2019 12/10/ /15/2019 1/28/ /20/2019 All SIT / PTA Meetings are open for all to attend

4 Title I Budget Funds instructional facilitator for elementary teachers 2.5 days a week. Gives staff development opportunities for teachers in the areas of math and reading Gives resources for parent nights to help in Reading and Math

5 Title I Goals Achieve School Letter Grade of C or better and Exceed State Growth Expectations for the school year. Show Individual Student Growth in Reading and Math Reading Goal: 70% Proficient (k-8) Math Goal: 60% Proficient (k-8) Science Goal: 85% Proficient (5th and 8th)

6 Parent Engagement Policy / Student – Parent – School - Compact
Developed / revised each spring during school improvement team meeting with parent and teacher input on 3/26/ Reviewed and approved by PTA on 4/17/2018, Title I Pac 4 PTA Meeting. Final draft given and reviewed during Open House by teachers with students, and parents. All faculty, parents and students encouraged to sign.

As Needed (Anytime teacher or parent need to talk) Scheduled: End of First and Third Nine Weeks Parent meetings for possible retentions will occur in late January, 2019 Parent Contracts: Completed during 3 weeks of school For at-risk and retained student

Join PTA Attend School Improvement Team Meetings Volunteer to help tutor Attend Parent Conferences / Curriculum Nights Provide feedback to school by completing yearly surveys Participate in PTA Basketball.

11 News for OHS is predicted to achieve a D letter grade and meet growth expectations for the 2017 – 2018 school year. All students can receive tutoring (Preteaching, Remediation) every morning from 7:30 – 8:00 am. Students will go directly to their homeroom in the mornings after breakfast. Media Center is open daily from 7:30 – 8:00 for students to check out new reading materials and to work with programs to help improve growth. Technology: Every classroom has at least 10 devices for student work, and every core classroom teacher has a smart board.

OHS teachers believe that a growth mindset will develop students’: Grades and achievement scores Motivation to learn increases To overcome challenges easier and give more effort Believe growth of the student mind is under their control Teachers and parents who have a growth mindset: Find ways to make learning happen Focus on effort not intelligence Believe learning is collaborative
