THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How did the Second World War Happen? Could it have been prevented? Learning Targets: 1. Students can describe how the end of the First World War and Economic Depression contributed to the rise of Totalitarian Dictatorships. 2. Students understand what Fascism and Bolshevism are and can explain their belief systems and goals. 3. Students understand what Isolationism and Appeasement are and how they allowed demagogues to come to power. 4. Students can explain how distribution of Economic Resources contributed to the Japanese decision to go to war with the United States. 5. Student can compare and contrast the long term and immediate causes of the Second World War.
