CMHS Expectations Central Cabarrus Faculty and Staff want all students to be responsible, respectful, safe, and engaged. In order to ensure you are fully aware of the expectations for your behavior, your administration will spend a few minutes over the first few days of school reviewing these expectations. We are Responsible. We are Respectful We are Safe. We are Engaged.

Tardy Policy – “SWEEP & KEEP”
Tardies 1 – 2 = Warning Tardies 3 – 4 = After School Detention and call home Tardy 5 = Referral to administration, After School Detention, and call home Tardy 6 = Referral to administration, ISS for period. Tardy 7 = Referral to administration, ISS for entire day, and call home Students who are tardy to class will not be permitted to enter the class. Teachers will sweep students to the closest assigned area where students will receive a tardy pass and then be allowed into class. These areas will be located throughout the school. Therefore, students, you will not have to walk all the way to the attendance office. Chronic violators of the tardy policy will receive more sever consequences. (Review Consequences) Tardy 8 = Parent meeting with administration and more severe consequences Note: The type, date, and duration of consequences are at the sole discretion of the school administration.

We are Responsible Use low to medium voice level Travel quickly Assist Others We are Safe Stay to the right Keep moving forward Display hall pass Report issues or concerns to an adult We are Respectful Use respectful language Follow staff member instructions Maintain personal space We are Engaged Positively greet and acknowledge others Actively listen for bells

Behavior in Classrooms
We are Responsible Be on time and prepared Complete assigned tasks Take care of school property Store personal items appropriately We are Safe Remain in your area Move appropriately throughout the room We are Respectful Be polite to teachers & peers Follow directions Be honest Use school supplies appropriately We are Engaged Be an active participant Listen to others when they are speaking Ask questions

Behavior in the Cafeteria & Commons
We are Responsible Use low to medium voice levels Clean up your area Place food and cafeteria items where they belong We are Safe Keep moving forward Stay to the right Keep belongings out of the walkways We are Engaged When we see something we know is not right we let someone know Others actions impact us all – if you see something, say something, You can make a positive change. We are Respectful Use respectful language Maintain personal space

Consequences Students who do not comply with Cox Mill’s behavioral code of conduct could receive any the following consequences. Warning or Redirect from the teacher for the period After School Detention – teacher or admin assigned Office referral resulting in a detention, ISS, OSS or alternative placement Any trip to see and administrator is accompanied with a phone call home Note: Discipline is progressive, the more offenses the more severe the consequence. Not attending a teacher detention will result in two admin detentions.
