“Animals Are Important”—Clay Day
STEPS Visualize your animal and look at your sketch. Form and shape a pinchpot for your animal’s body. Add clay to form the other large parts of your animal (ex: legs, feet, head, etc.). Score & Slip to attach. Add smaller details Eyes, nose, mouth, fangs, teeth, whiskers, ears, claws, etc. Score & Slip to attach. Incise or impress patterns & textures (ex: fur, feathers, scales, etc.). REMEMBER: Your animal is a sculpture, it should look good from all sides. Avoid tiny pieces that stick off your vessel They break off too easily. You MUST score & slip any clay you add to your vessel!!
