3 Media Independent Information Service
The current status provides only static link layer information parameters Network type Operator Identifier Cost Roaming_partners, etc. Dynamic link layer parameters have to be obtained with direct interaction with the access networks QoS List (Throughput, packet error rate..) Signal strength of links, etc. Direct interaction may occur more delay than using MIIS Supporting dynamic information to MIIS Pros More helpful to select appropriate access networks i.e. signal strength, radio resource Cons How to manage and update dynamic IEs Increasing implementation complexities 21-07-xxxx

4 How to update and manage dynamic IEs?
An example Distributed IS server environment Fast update and retrieval Proactive mode Periodic update by IS server Reactive mode Indication to notify IS server of changes of values MIIS server MIIS server Static IEs Dynamic IEs 2) New message for update request 2) MIH_Get_Link_ Parameters.confirm 3) New message for update confirm 1) MIH_Get_Link_ Parameters.request MIIS server 1)MIH_Link_parameters_report.indicaiton 21-07-xxxx

5 Conclusion and Next step
Adding dynamic Information Elements to MIIS is really useful to make suitable handover decision can provide a way to achieve dynamic information as MIIS for network selection if it is technically feasible then we need to progress more on this 21-07-xxxx
