1 Mrs. Hake’s Tuesday, Nov. 16th edition CLASSROOM news Sneak Peak Week in Review: at Next Week This week we worked on the letters Z and C and the words up and she. We loved telling the story of the first Thanksgiving!. Ask us to tell it to you using our Thanksgiving book. Our feast was a huge hit!!! Thank you for your donations. We learned so much about hunting, gathering, and farming. We made many class books including one telling what our favorite Thanksgiving food is. When you read with your child try…. Having them point to the word while they read Having them refer to the picture clues when trying to figure out words Having them use beginning sounds to figure out words Having them stretch sounds together to sound out a word To read like they are excited if they see an exclamation mark and raise their voice like asking something when they see a question mark Closing the book after reading and retell everything you have read in sequence. * Sounding out to write – try tapping or clapping out three letter words and writing what you hear. *Sound out to write sentences – remember space between words, spell rainbow words correctly, period at the end. *Practice addition problems using numbers 5 or less. We need to be able to answer these without fingers or manipulatives. *Write numbers Try writing in sand on a cookie sheet, with a variety of tool s(pens, markers, crayons) or in shaving cream *Practice rainbow words – try laying all the words we have had so far on the table face up, have one person say a word, and your child and another player try to slap it with two fingers first, the most cards at the end wins. *Read, read, read Rainbow Words Trace, cut, practice: then and
