2. Test Preparation
You should be preparing up until the day of the actual test.
To be successful, you should be paying attention during class, take good notes, study nightly, start and complete each homework assignment provided, and reviewing all materials daily.
Use your time wisely and make it have purpose.
Ask teachers to emphasize what you need to review to put extra time in that area.
Go to open/optional study groups available.
Have main ideas, key information, formulas, etc. open for you to look over right before the test to have a quick study session by yourself.

3. DURING THE TEST
Don’t be nervous, be confident. Eat a good breakfast and relax.
Keep your eyes on your own test, so you don’t look like your cheating.
When you have a reading test, read the directions and questions of the section before you read the passage to save time and know what your looking for.
In a math test, do the easiest questions first so you have more time for the more difficult at the end.
Pace yourself, don’t rush but don’t take more time than you need to.
Read the whole question and don’t guess.
If you don’t know the answer skip it and come back to it, to avoid wasting time.

4. During the test
Don’t worry if others finish before you. Maybe they guessed on the whole test.
If you have time left, be sure to go over the test and see that you have every question answered and reread essay questions, short responses, and constructed responses.
Be positive you have your first and last name, date and class period in the top right corner, to be sure that you get credit for your work

5. AFTER THE TEST
Be positive when you receive your results. Don’t lash out at the teacher if that’s not the grade you wanted. The teacher didn’t take your test for you.
Go through and make sure there are no grading mistakes to be positive you have received the correct score.
Look over your mistakes and ask around to your classmates and ask if they could give you a bit more information, the teacher is always the #1 person to ask.
If the test is reviewed in class make sure to take Cornell notes on what was emphasized and what you misunderstood or got wrong.
If you think you could’ve done better ask to redo it or for extra credit.
NEVER THROW IT AWAY. Keep it for future reference.
