Grade 4 - Identify Quadrilaterals
2
Set the Purpose You have learned to identify parallel lines and right angles. Today, you will learn to use these features to classify quadrilaterals. What is the same about all polygons that are quadrilaterals?
3
Quadrilaterals – In your notebook, match each shape with a description
Quadrilaterals – In your notebook, match each shape with a description! Draw and write the shape next to each description. 1. Opposite sides parallel; all sides the same length 2. Only 1 pair of parallel sides 3. 2 pairs of parallel sides 4. 4 right angles 5. 4 right angles; all sides the same length Rhombus Trapezoid Parallelogram Rectangle Square
4
Quadrilaterals A parallelogram has 2 pairs of parallel sides.
A rectangle has 4 right angles. It is also a parallelogram.
5
Quadrilaterals A square has 4 right angles and all sides are the same length. It is a parallelogram, rectangle, and rhombus.
6
Quadrilaterals A rhombus is a quadrilateral that has opposite sides that are parallel and all of its sides are the same length.
7
Quadrilaterals A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides.
