2 Timberline High School Credit Check List
Class of 2015 Credit requirements listed are to graduate from high school - not for admission to a 4-year college or university (see catalog - page 12) Transfer students-if you transferred to THS from another school check to make sure you don’t need additional credits (see catalog – page 9) Students planning to participate in Division I/II college athletics need to check the NCAA requirements (see catalog – page 13) Students with an IEP may need to check with their Counselor or Teacher Manager to make sure they register for right classes 2/5/2019

3 MATH Credit Requirements
3.0 credits of math MUST include: ALGEBRA – 1 CREDIT GEOMETRY – 1 CREDIT ALGEBRA II/ Probability and Statistics or CTE** – 1 credit **Counselor permission required. Probability and Statistics or a CTE Math can be taken as the 3rd math credit if it fits within the student’s career pathway. Probability and Statistics and CTE math will not satisfy college admission requirements. CTE Maths: Beginning and Intermediate Auto = .5 math, .5 CTE Advanced Auto = .5 math, 1.5 CTE Accounting I = .5 math, .5 CTE Business Math I and II = .5 math for each semester Independent Living = .5 math 2/5/2019

4 SOCIAL STUDIES World Studies – 1.5 credits
Seniors who do not have 1.5 credits of World Studies credits can take an elective social studies: Psychology, Sociology, Law & Justice, WA State History, AP Govt. U.S. History – 1 credit Civics - Civics or AP Government WA State History and Government (PNW): If not taken in middle school or out-of-state; students must take WA State History. Can also be satisfied in AP Government 2/5/2019

5 CHOOSING YOUR SENIOR YEAR COURSES
What do you plan to do following high school? Colleges look at the rigor of your senior schedule. Most 4-year colleges require: ** English – 4 credits ** Math – completion of algebra II or higher math or a math based science course your senior year ** Science – 2 years – many colleges require chemistry or physics (both are math based science classes) ** World Language – 2 years of the same world language (additional years preferred) 2/5/2019

6 If you plan to attend a Community College, Technical School
or 4-year school you will need to take a placement test in Math and English. Math and English classes will help you prepare for these tests. You should have a challenging and balanced schedule. Make sure you check your credit requirements carefully. You will be held to your pre-registration – make sure you choose courses you plan to take SELECT ALTERNATE COURSES!! You may not get your first choice of electives 2/5/2019

7 ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR SENIORS
New Market Skills Center – Tumwater ** Specific training and experience in a career related field ** Attend morning (periods 1-3) or afternoon (periods 4-6) program See pages of course catalog for course descriptions. See your Counselor or Mrs. St. John for more information. **Register for 6 credits at Timberline H. S. 2/5/2019

8 Running Start – South Puget Sound Community College
**Students can enroll in college courses and earn both college and high school credit. **Students must take a placement test to qualify. **Current Running Start students should register only for the classes they will take at THS. **Students who are not currently enrolled in RS but plan to enroll for next year should sign up for 6 credits at THS and make an appointment to see your Counselor. 2/5/2019

9 SENIOR REGISTRATION DATES June 2014: Tentative dates June 23, 26, 27 Seniors who do not attend will be computer balanced. 2/5/2019

10 Course Catalog: Additions and Changes
Changes to course offerings: (catalog page indicated) **Many elective English courses will no longer be offered. The following courses will be offered for seniors: Senior English – Composition - .5 credit (page 25) Senior English – Literature - .5 credit (page 25) AP English Literature & Composition – 1.0 credit (page 25) American Literature 1/2 (page 25) Business English - .5 credit (page 26) Journalistic Writing – 1.0 credit (page 26) 2/5/2019

11 Advisors: Please hand out: Course catalog Pre-registration form
Recommendation sheet for each student Student portfolios Students: Print your name legibly on each of these forms. Staple them together with the pre-registration form on top. Advisors need to turn these end following your SLC. Make sure you complete these forms carefully as you will be registered for the courses you select. You need to pre-register for 6 credits and 2 credits of alternates. 2/5/2019
