5 Classic Cocktails Any Home Bartender Can Master

2 - The Fruit Old Fashion -
1 to 2 teaspoons simple syrup, (see our tips for making simple syrup) 3 dashes bitters (Angostura is great and readily available) 2 ounces mid-range bourbon or rye whiskey One 2-inch piece of orange peel, optional 1 to 2 maraschino cherries, optional

3 DIRECTIONS Place simple syrup, bitters and the whiskey in an Old Fashioned glass, stir well and add 1 to 2 large ice cubes. Stir 2 to 3 times to chill and garnish with peel of orange and cherry.

4 - The Classic Margarita -
2 oz tequila 0.5 oz triple sec 0.5 oz simple syrup 1 oz fresh lime juice A splash of pineapple Juice - The Classic Margarita - Usus Legentis

5 DIRECTIONS Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice

7 Ingredients DIRECTIONS
1 oz gin or vodka 0.5 oz lemon juice 0.25 oz simple syrup Any sparkling wine DIRECTIONS Place simple syrup, gin, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Shake well and pour into a champagne glass. Top with champagne or sparkling wine and enjoy!

8 - The Gin Fizz - 2 oz gin 0.5 oz (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice
0.5 oz simple syrup 3 to 4 oz club soda

9 DIRECTIONS Place simple syrup, lemon juice, and gin in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and pour into the glass of your choice. Top with club soda or tonic and garnish with a slice of lemon and cucumber.

10 - The Bee’s Knees - 2 oz gin or vodka * .75 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz honey syrup* Honey syrup is just equal parts honey and water simmered together and chilled. This is traditionally made with gin but vodka can be used.

11 DIRECTIONS Place honey syrup, gin or vodka and lemon juice in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, pour into a martini glass and garnish with mint. * I garnish mine with a straw full of honey and the drinker can stir the honey into the cocktail for additional honey flavor.
