Cost per patient decreased from £131 to £76 per patient
The average cost of admission due to exacerbation is £2602, if that admission could be avoided cost reduced by 40% (£1041 saved)
One admission per patient per class could save £24,984 per annum in NHS Lothian alone

8. Pilot Results The Patient Perspective
93% of patients felt safe during exercises
95% felt the class was beneficial
95% found they were able to control their breathing more easily
69% felt very comfortable or comfortable with the idea of doing the class by video link before; and 81% after the programme

9. Summary
Data demonstrates that delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation using video conferencing is at least as good as a traditional model and is acceptable to patients.
