3. Teacher please help!
If you do not understand a direction or part of a lab procedure you should ask the teacher before proceeding
If you have been injured, you first should tell the teacher at once
If a fire erupts in the lab you should notify the teacher right away
If a piece of equipment is not working properly, stop, turn it off and tell the teacher
All chemical wastes should be disposed of by your teacher’s directions

4. Prohibited in the lab room
Horseplay, practical jokes or pranks are always against the rules
Gum chewing, eating, drinking are never permitted
DO NOT wear loose clothing, dangling jewelry or sandals on lab days
Long hair MUST be tied back or kept out of the way

5. Lets be clean Work areas are always kept clean and tidy
When you finish working with chemicals, biological specimens, and other lab substances always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Return all equipment to proper storage

6. Handle the equipment with care
Always carry a microscope using both hands
Safety goggles are worn any time chemicals, heat, or glassware are used
Never remove chemicals, specimens or other equipment from the lab
It is never okay to pick up broken glass with bare hands
Do not leave a lit burner unattended
Treat all chemicals in a lab as if they could be hazardous
When using a razor blade or scalpel, always cut material away from you

7. Just follow the rules
Handling animals students should not tease them, open cages only with permission and report bites or scratches
Lab work may not start until the teacher is present
Read all procedures thoroughly before investigation
You are not allowed to enter the chemical prep or storage area at any time
All unauthorized experiments are prohibited
