Reading Centers During the language arts block, the children are given the opportunity to complete various centers. At these centers the students complete activities that review and build upon the skills taught. During centers, students are pulled into small groups for differentiation. These centers may include the following: Word work Phonics Writing Listening books Journal Technology Science/S.S. activities

Summative Assessments
Study guides will be sent home before a summative assessment in areas of: Math Religion Science Social Studies Spelling Summative Assessments will be given on Friday Reading Summative Assessments will be given on Friday based on the story and skills practiced throughout the week The reading book will be sent home on Thursday and will need to be returned the next day!

Grades First grade students receive report cards each trimester.
Progress reports are sent midway through each trimester. ONLY to those students struggling with a skill or concept. Parents will not be able to view grades on Renweb. Renweb is percentage based and does not translate well to the primary grading system which is developmental.

JUNGLE binders are a way for us to communicate!
Please check JUNGLE binders every night and initial the behavior calendar NIGHTLY!

Please use pencil unless
Homework Every Monday a homework packet will be sent in the blue folder inside your child’s JUNGLE. They are due on Friday. Please use pencil unless noted otherwise.

Weekly Packets Weekly packets are completed work from the previous week. The packet will be coming home on Fridays. Please look over the packet, sign the cover sheet, and return the entire packet with the binder clip to school by Monday. The weekly packets will be in the JUNGLE binder, inside the blue folder.

Behavior Clip Chart Each day students will begin their day on a 3.
Students will get a stamp on their monthly calendar located in the JUNGLE binders if they are on a 3,4,or 5. They will get a note explaining why they are on a 2 or 1.

After Care ~If your child is going to aftercare please send me
Morning~ An adult will assist your child out of the car. Students are supervised from 7:30-7:45 outside. Afternoon~ Your child is to walk outside and find your car. Our class is the green middle line unless you have a younger sibling, then you are the blue line closest to the school. After Care ~If your child is going to aftercare please send me an or a note.
