2 Comments on Individual Research Reports
1) Your report needs a title. 2) Make sure you use a consistent method for citations. For this class you are allowed one of two methods, either in-text citations or superscript citations. 3) Your bibliography (or list of references) should use the MLA format we discussed in class. The OWL MLA Powerpoint is on my website. Pay particular attention to the methods for listing a website.

3 In-Text Citations – from Purdue OWL MLA
Bibliography Example: Wordsworth, William. Lyrical Ballads. Oxford UP, 1967. You need to include an in-text citation even if the author’s name is in the text or if you include a quote in the text.

4 Superscript Citations – from U. Washington
References are numbered in  consecutive order in the text. Use superscript arabic numerals to cite material, e.g., 1    The first reference used in a written document is listed as 1 in the bibliography. Where to place the superscript?  The superscript number 1  is inserted into the document immediately next to the fact, concept, or quotation being cited.  If citing more than one reference at the same point, separate the numbers with commas and no spaces between.  The Superscript number is inserted: Immediately next to the fact, idea or quotation being cited.  Ex. This drug is used to treat hepatitis.1 Outside periods and commas. Ex. Storing latex at high heat may cause degradation, 2,3-5,7  but it is difficult to keep materials cool in a desert environment. Inside colons and semi-colons. Ex. Some physicians choose to store prescription pads in locked cabinets 8; others keep them in their coats at all times. 9

5 Bibliography – from Purdue OWL MLA
Each entry in the list of works cited is made up of core elements given in a specific order. The core elements should be listed in the order in which they appear here. Each element is followed by the punctuation mark shown here.

7 Organizing Your Team Presentation
1) Agree on the solution to your research question that your team will propose. 2) Agree on how to structure your argument. 3) Agree on what evidence your team will include to support your solution. 4) Make an outline of the slides you would like to present as a team. A good target is about 1 slide per minute so you want about 8-10 slides.
