Yr 8 Skill Tester
2
In order to achieve the standards set out in the curriculum, you are required to complete several tasks (CATs). When completed, these CATs make up a full unit of work and will be theory and prac based. You may use the booklet to complete the required work or you may present the work as a PowerPoint, Word Document, etc. Throughout the unit of work, you will follow the design process.
3
Throughout this unit of work you will gain knowledge, and develop your skills in the following:
Researching a design Tools and their uses Researching and Investigating Sketching/Drawing/Designing Production Processes Analysing and Evaluating Risk Assessment Planning and time-management
4
Brief You are to design and make an electronic skill tester game.
You must follow the design process. CONSTRAINTS (MUST do): The finished model must meet the design provided The finished product needs to be able to stand up on its own and be stable The model contain a printed or drawn image on the back board 160mm x 140mm The model must have 2 x LEDS and 1 X buzzer The model must visually connect the wire frame to the background image CONSIDERATIONS (YOUR choice): Additional Materials Content of the image Style Texture Finish Materials colour

CAT 1 Getting to know the basics!
Research five (5) different electronic toys. Include and image of each toy. Discuss how each of the toys is operated. (How someone uses them Discuss what the educational or developmental benefits are generated by using each toy. (Provide web site addresses of sites you visited and or location of the stores you visited) Toy Image How the toy operates Educational benefits.

CAT2 Technical Drawings Produce an orthographic drawing
Produce an electrical circuit drawing
9
With teacher guidance produce an orthographic drawing and place a copy here.
Use the drawing on the previous page to help you to produce your own drawing.

CAT 5: Evaluation Answer the following questions in a paragraph. THINK about……….. Have I ever been late to class? Do I always have the equipment I need (including shoes)? Do I use my class time well? What is my behaviour like………am I respectful? Do I make an effort to catch up with my work when I have had time off? Do I complete follow-up learning tasks? Do I always complete work to the best of my ability? What did I learn? What could I improve on next time? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
