Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration Program What are the goals of the Health Care Administration (HCA) program? The online Associate of Applied Science in Health Care Administration (HCA) degree program at Pima Medical Institute features courses that allow you to sharpen your management skills by studying business communications, psychology, management, and finance. Graduates gain a cutting edge advantage by learning the essential business functions of a medical office or health services organization from highly experienced faculty. Is the program accredited? Yes! The HCA program has been approved by the State of Arizona and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), Pima Medical Institute’s institutional accrediting agency. What are the requirements to enroll in the program? Program applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a post-secondary certificate/diploma in an allied health field, pass an entrance examination, and pass a mathematics screening exam with a minimum score of 80%. An interview is also required. Students are required to transfer 27 credits into the Associate of Applied Science degree under the following conditions: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, grade of “C” or better in transfer courses. Transfer courses must be transferrable for college credit. Twelve of the 27 transfer credits are required to be health care administration credits. Applicants must provide evidence of practice in a relevant vocation or have graduated in a health care related field in the past 5 years. Pima Medical Institute certificate programs that transfer into the HCA program include Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Administrative Assistant. How long is the program? The HCA program consists of 45 weeks of content. Individual completion time may vary by student depending on individual progress and credits transferred. What does “fast track” mean? By transferring in additional general education credits beyond the required 27 qualifying credits needed to enroll in the HCA program, an applicant may be able to reduce the time it takes to complete the program. Transfer of credit is determined on an individual basis by the Program Director and Online Director. Continue •

There are no clinicals or externships in the HCA program. Students may be required to accomplish work-related tasks within the program. How much does the program cost? Tuition for the program is set at $300 per credit. Students transferring 27 credits will be required to complete 64 credits. The total cost of tuition (only) is $11,100. Actual costs may be less if additional credits are transferred. Is financial aid available? Yes! Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Our financial aid representatives are available to help you navigate the process of financing your education. Will I have a chance to experience the online classroom before classes begin? Every student will complete an instructor-led online orientation before they begin a program. The orientation is set up to allow students to practice using all of the tools they’ll use in an actual class as well as ensure they have the right computer and software. The orientation instructor provides guidance and coaching. What is a health care administrator? Health care administrators manage and support the business side of a health care facility. Their roles vary from general administration to specialized department support in the areas of finance, health information, human resources, and marketing.
