1987 – Cable Channel 22 Founded
Equipment from Frederick Cablevision, Inc.
GS Communications operated
1988 – Both City and County establish separate Channels
Moved to Cable Channel 99
1999 – Develop The City of Frederick Channel 99 Improvement Plan
2000 – Create Channel 99 “Guide to City Services” Bulletin Board
– Videotaping of Public Meetings confirmed
2004 – Transfer Budget Request to purchase new Video Camera System for City Hall Boardroom
2005 – Upgrade City Hall Boardroom Audio Equipment
2007 – Complete Annex AV & Camera Installation
2008 – Launch Granicus Online Video Services
– Launch Channel 99 Live Stream via City Website
– Add Nexus Playout & Master Control
– Internship program with Frederick Community College

2008 – Board of Aldermen voted to form Audio Visual Department to operate Channel 99
2009 – Assist with launch of Nixle Text Alert System
– Begin maintaining Security Cameras in City facilities
2010 – Assist with creation of Facebook and Twitter sites
2012 – Channel 99 Productions added to Facebook
– Lead implementation of Everbridge, Alert Frederick County; replaces Nixle
2015 – Launch The City of Frederick YouTube Channel
2016 – Transfer Security Camera duties to Safety Department
– Department move to Office of Public Information
