Organize it! ***Must complete in class*** Directions: Match each type of rock, to the picture, to the characteristics. Try to do it without using your notes. Finally, check your answers using the answer key (next slide). If you do did not get it correct, mix them up and try again if time allows. Write your initials after you have checked it.

3 Research it! Directions: Using the pictures and captions in the next slide, answer the questions below about Stone Mountain. What type of rock is Stone Mountain(sedimentary, intrusive igneous, extrusive igneous, metamorphic)? What physical characteristic does granite have that displays its formation? See picture to the left. Fill in the flow map in the boxes below to show how stone mountain was formed in your own words (Summarize!) You add pictures if you want.

5 Map it! Directions: Use your notes to compare and contrast intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks. There needs to be 3 differences and 2 similarities. Differences may include cooling rates, where are they formed, what is the name of the molten rock they are formed from, and characteristics. Similarity may not be “Igneous Rocks” You may also watch the following video that was in your nearpod:

6 Practice it! (computer/phone)
Directions: Go to the website ml . For each section listed, write down your score on your station paper. If you score less than 80%, I would recommend that you re-do the activity at home until you score 80% or above.

8 Track it! (Teacher-Directed)
See Ms. Hilgefort to track your Geology pre-assessment data. She will call you up individually and sign off.

9 Prove it! Directions: Highlight or underline and number the evidence for each question. Then, answer the 12 questions. Write out the word answer to each question (not just the letter).
