Lord of the Rings Chapter 2, Part 3 Final Comments: Gandalf hints that there is another force at work that shapes events. The creatures do not control everything. There is a Providence or a Higher Power. The Ring has a life of its own. It is pure evil. Not even someone as simple and humble as Bilbo and Frodo can escape the Ring’s influence. Gandalf – knows his limitations and weaknesses; he knows the Ring would corrupt him, even if he was well meaning.
