1 Russia shopping center fire

2 The number of people who died when fire ripped through a shopping center in the Siberian city of Kemerovo has risen to 64, many of them children. Around ten people are still missing after the blaze broke out on Sunday afternoon, when the mall was packed with shoppers and cinema goers. Ten others are in hospital. Preliminary investigations point to the fire having broken out in the cinema hall area of the four-story Winter Cherry shopping mall in the center of Kemerovo. As around 100 people were evacuated, others were trapped by the fire inside. Witnesses told Russian media they saw people jumping from the windows in desperate efforts to escape. Rescue workers say they have checked the first and second floors and are checking the third but have had difficultly making it to the fourth floor where the fire is believed to have started. Four people had been detained and questioned in relation to the fire but it is not yet known how the inferno began.

3 In Other News An Iowa couple and their two children died from inhaling toxic gas while vacationing in Mexico. The bodies of Kevin Wayne Sharp; his wife, Amy Marie Sharp; their son, Sterling, 12; and daughter Adrianna, 7, were discovered Friday at a rental condominium. The family had been dead for about 36 to 48 hours. Autopsies showed they suffocated after inhaling toxic gases, but it's unclear what type of gas led to their deaths. There were no signs of foul play or suicide. Investigators ruled out a possible robbery because they did not see evidence of a disturbance inside the condo. The March for Our Lives is over, but the student drive for gun reform is just beginning. After hundreds of thousands of people across the US marched to put pressure on Washington to make changes to the country's gun laws, a group of student activists in Wisconsin started a four-day, 50-mile march to take their message to Janesville, Wisconsin, home of House Speaker Paul Ryan. The big headline out of Stormy Daniels' big interview with Anderson Cooper on "60 Minutes" is her claim that she was threatened in 2011 after she tried to sell her story of an alleged affair with Donald Trump to a magazine. Daniels said a man walked up to her in Las Vegas in 2011 and told her to "leave Trump alone" and that "it'd be a shame" if something happened to her infant daughter. President Trump, through his attorney, said Daniels defamed him during the interview and demanded a retraction and apology. President Trump had no comment himself on any of this. He served two tours in Afghanistan, but US Army veteran Miguel Perez was deported to Mexico anyway. Perez was escorted across the US-Mexico border Friday and handed over to Mexican officials. Perez and his supporters, including Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth, said he'd earned the right to stay in America because of his wartime service. But his citizenship application was denied because he had a felony drug conviction. Perez was born in Mexico and came to the US legally at age 8 after his father got a job offer in Chicago.
