Figure Likelihood of significant finding at upper endoscopy (EGD) increases with increasing risk score. The risk score is calculated by assigning 1 point each for concomitant antiplatelet therapy and an EGD performed within 12 hours, with 0, 1, and 2 points for an international normalized ratio of > 7.5, , and < 5.5, respectively. Each 1-point increase in this prediction score was associated with a twofold increase in likelihood of a significant endoscopic finding (odds ratio [OR] 2.15; 95% confidence interval [CI], ) and a threefold increase in likelihood of a therapeutic intervention at EGD (OR 2.87; 95% CI, ).
