Federal court of appeal has halted construction after Indigenous groups, Vancouver and Burnaby and environmental groups challenged the permits
Found that the NEB environmental review was insufficient because it didn’t consider tankers and the government didn’t meaningfully consult with Indigenous groups

Each year, the new oil being transported will result in 173 megatons of carbon emissions – 84% of the Paris targets
