Australia The Continent of Australia is surrounded by ocean. Animals that are not found anywhere else in the world live in its grassy plains, deserts, rain forests and sunny woodlands.

Many of the animals are mammals known as marsupials
Many of the animals are mammals known as marsupials. Female marsupials have pouches where they carry their young.

Some of the marsupials that live out on the grasslands are the kangaroo and the wallaby.

Other marsupials live in trees such as the striped possum, tree kangaroo and koala.
