11. Reporting Clauses
Used to introduce what someone says, reports or thinks.
A noun clause is the object of the “reporting” verb.
The word “that” introduces the clause, but is often omitted, especially in speaking.
Examples:
“In the U.S., some people say (that) it is bad luck to walk under a ladder.”
“Not many Americans will admit (that) they are superstitious.”
