Lanes 2, 4 and 6: three aliquots from the same DNA preparation of a sputum sample from a patient with Legionella infection. Lanes 3, 5, 7 and 10 are negative controls. Lane 8: a negative sputum. Lane 9: the same sample as in lane 8, but with 50 CFU of L. pneumophila sg 1 (ATCC 33152) added. Lane 11: positive control of heat-lysed L. pneumophila sg 1 (ATCC 33152).
