Fourth Grade ELA The Sign of the Beaver Novel Study Week Twelve, Day Four This session will be recorded for learning purposes.  Learning purposes include: a lesson review for students who are absent, students who want to review for a test, etc. and will be distributed for learning purposes.

2 Directions: Read the passage and be ready to answer a few questions!
Daily Review Ask students to read the passage and give a green check when finished.

5 Use the word “coworker in a sentence.
Ask students to use whiteboard tools to write their sentences on the board.

8 Vocabulary glinted = gleaming brightness, luster
The sun glinted in the sky incomprehensible = impossible to understand or comprehend The ancient writing was incomprehensible. hastily = swift, rapidly He hastily finished his homework, so he could go outside to play.

9 Vocabulary abruptly = sudden or unexpected
The game ended abruptly due to the storm. glowered = to stare at with dislike or anger The tiger glowered at his prey.

10 Teacher Read Aloud How is Matt feeling at the beginning of Chapter 6?
What does Matt think about the Indian? Teacher will read aloud. Students will respond to questions in chat box and discuss.

11 Teacher Read Aloud Why is does Matt feel grateful?
Why do you think the Indian chose to help Matt? Teacher will read aloud. Students will respond to questions in chat box.

12 Teacher Read Aloud What does Matt think the Indian boy is thinking when he looks at him? Do you think Matt and the boy can become friends? Why or why not? Teacher will read aloud. Students will respond to questions in chat box.

16 Whole Group Discussion
Discuss comprehension questions whole group.

17 Team Directions You and your team will complete two questions based on Chapters 5 and 6. You will then “teach” the whole group when we return to the main room by explaining your answers to the questions. Make sure your “broadcaster” is ready to share your team’s answers! Give each “team” different questions and then ask students to share with the whole group after completing. More than one team might have the same questions based on the number of groups.
