11 1980s: Yuppies Have Kids… Teens: their music, fashion, & behavior became an even bigger mystery. Kids born in the mid 1960s  early 1980s Generation X Called the “Me! Me! Me! Generation = all about status & social position. Divorces increased = dramatic change in the family unit. Parents worked more hours = criticized for “buying” their children's’ love.
