The Executive Branch Article II of the Constitution
Lists all aspects of the Executive Branch The Executive Branch is the branch of the government responsible for executing or carrying out the law Carrying out law is only a small part of the President’s job

Limited Power Terms of Office Limited Power Qualifications and Salary

Terms of Office: 4 year term and must run for reelection to serve a second term.
No President can hold office for more than two terms. Limited Power: Cannot make laws Cannot declare war Senate must approve Cabinet members Senate must approve Federal judges Senate must approve Supreme Court Justices Senate must approve treaties Qualifications and Salary 35 years old Natural born citizen of the United States Must have lived in the United States for 14 years Yearly salary is set by Congress. Currently at $400,000 a year

Chief Executive The president makes sure that laws are carried out. About 4,000 officials help him do this.

Commander in Chief The president leads our armed forces. The Secretary of Defense helps him.

Chief Diplomat The president is the leader in foreign relations. The Secretary of State helps him with this.

Legislative Leader The President can strongly influence Congress. Examples: War in Iraq, The Affordable Health Care Act - Obama Care

Judicial Powers The President chooses Supreme Court Judges.

Vice President The Vice President has no duties assigned by the constitution except presiding over the Senate.
