Qualifications and Salary
35 years old
Natural born citizen of the United States
Must have lived in the United States for 14 years
Yearly salary is set by Congress. Currently at $400,000 a year

7. Chief Executive
The president makes sure that laws are carried out. About 4,000 officials help him do this.

8. Commander in Chief
The president leads our armed forces. The Secretary of Defense helps him.

9. Chief Diplomat
The president is the leader in foreign relations. The Secretary of State helps him with this.

The Vice President has no duties assigned by the constitution except presiding over the Senate.
