4. v.1 It glorifies God for His goodness and love
“… as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God” (2 Cor. 4:15)
“Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20)

5. v.2-5 It motivates us to please God
“Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving” Eph. 5:4
Gratitude is something to express!
v.2 “Who can proclaim the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all His praise?”
