Did the Articles of Confederation create a strong or weak government?
We will be working on SENTENCE FRAMES in order to understand the difference between a STRONG CENTRAL GOVERNMENT and a WEAK CENTRAL GOVERNMENT Based on the question and the clues given, help Mr. Kelly fill in the blanks with a word or phrase that makes sense!

What is a strong central government?
A strong central government is one where most of the power is at the NATIONAL level. The states have very LITTLE power.

Advantages of a Strong Government
POWER to make DECISIONS/LAWS NO PROBLEMS raising MONEY ($) or enforcing LAWS. The national government does all of it.

Disadvantages of a strong central government
Easy to ABUSE/MISUSE power. Takes power away from the STATES/PEOPLE.

What is a weak central government?
The STATES have a majority of the power. The NATIONAL government has very LITTLE power.

Advantages of a weak central government
Keeps power CLOSE/NEAR to the people.

Disadvantages of a weak central government
PROBLEMS/Trouble raising taxes or passing laws Hard to FORCE the states to make joint decisions (to agree).
