Mind, Body and Spirit Mission
The Southern Area Mind, Body and Spirit (MBS) Committee is designed to encourage Chapter MBS Chairs, Chaplains and Linkspiration Leaders to: Enhance and create an environment in which Sisters are encouraged to take care of their Mind, Body and Spirit. Encourage Sisters to focus on their personal and collective moral and spiritual growth.
7
Role of the MBS Chair or Chapter Chaplain
The role of the chapter’s MBS Chair is to link the three most essential aspects of our members’ beings: Mind, Body and Spirit, to fuel this “organization” we call The Links, Incorporated. Ensure the mission and goals of the organization. Serve as the consultant and advisor for Linkspiration of the chapter. May or may not be certified, have a theological education, or be ordained or commissioned. Represent multiple faiths. Act as a neutral spiritual resource to help chapter members grow in their relationships.
8
Encourage building strong friendships through inspirational and motivational teachings, readings or exhortations during chapter Executive Committee meetings, monthly chapter meetings, programs or special events. Become aware of members’ personal needs; share needs when permitted; and offer support when members want issues kept in confidence. Coordinate/assist in planning the chapter’s National Friendship Month in coordination with the chapter Vice President of Membership and Friendship Chair.
9
Example: Treasure Coast (FL) Chapter Chaplain Duties
The Chaplain shall: Arrange for and/or present a Linkspiration at each chapter meeting, program or workshop. Be familiar with the rituals of The Links, Incorporated. Be a member of the Membership Committee. Serve as a member of the Executive Committee. Be responsible for extending courtesies to chapter members in the event of illness or death.

Linkspirations RENEW the Mind
Incorporating the importance of the Mind is to: Encourage members to align thoughts, ideas and healthy perceptions with the requirements, goals and expectations of The Links, Incorporated. Acknowledge that keeping an open mind, which is receptive and accepting of changes and differences, defines the mindset of each chapter.
12
Inspirational Text: “Finally, [Sisters], whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8 TLB)
13
Linkspirations REFRESH the Body
The physical aspect (Body) encourages: The accessibility of members with full participation and use of their talents, skills and experiences. The unity of a “body” [chapter] in which every member performs in her areas of interest and expertise.
14
Inspirational Text: “Just as our bodies [chapters] have many members and each member has a special function, so it is with Christ's (chapter) body. We are many members of one body [chapter], and we all belong to each other. In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the gift of speech, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” (Romans 12:4-8 TLB)
15
Linkspirations REFLECT the Spirit
The most important focus of the Chapter’s MBS Chair/Chaplain, is to build a healthy Spirit which encourages members to be accountable to one another with: Honesty Integrity A clear conscience
16
The Spirit of a chapter is a reflection of the Spirit of its members
The Spirit of a chapter is a reflection of the Spirit of its members. Whatever is going on in the Spirits of the membership will manifest and be seen by others as the Spirit of the chapter. Inspirational text: “Be kindly affectionate one to another with [Sisterly] love; in honor preferring one another.” (Romans 12:10 TLB)
17
Summary To build on our legacy of friendship and service, we must continue to reflect, renew and refresh our members’ Mind, Body and Spirit to function as one in Linkdom.
