Fig 1 Overall univariate survival analysis using the Kaplan–Meier method. A, Lower survival was shown in patients with Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) with less than median household income compared with patients with greater than or equal to median household income (P = .01). This finding did not persist in the multivariable survival analysis (P = .64). B, There was a significant difference in survival univariately between white, black, and other race patients with MCC (P = .03). In the multivariable analysis, black race was associated with 3.63 times the risk of death compared with white patients with MCC (P = .03).
