MATH PROJECT Perspective on Art
2
Perspective on Art Brunelleschi created the correct formulation of linear perspective in art in 1413. A painting must have a vanishing point and a scale. Relation between the real size of an object and its size in the picture depending on its distance. Made a painting with a hole in the vanishing point.(example) He didn’t write down principles.
3
Perspective on Art When Alberti wrote Brunilleschi’s principles he gave them a geometry background. He set up a system of triangles between the eye and the object viewed. Alberti gave the concept of proportionality which determinates the size of an object depending on its distance.
4
Instructions: Cross 2 diagonals to find the vanishing point
Cross the horizon line in the middle of the square (horizontal) Measure the total bottom of the square and its sides Choose a scale and I’m going to prove the proportionality of the insides triangles. (overlapping triangles) D B E A C 14 20
5
Triangle Proportionality
6
Representation Choose any number as scale.( scale 2)
Divide all the side measures by 2 (scale) 14:2=7, 20:2=10, 14:2=7 Prove the triangles proportionality (original size) AC = CD = AD (new size) AB BE AE 14 = 20 = 14 2 = 2 = 2 = 2 14 20 D B E A C
