75 Textual Evidence and Inferences
When we have ideas about a text, we need to cite explicit textual evidence to support our ideas. What does explicit textual evidence mean? Explicit = direct Textual = from the text Evidence = support your answer, opinion, or idea * Be sure to use quotation marks. “Evidence,” (pg #). An inference, however, is something you think is true based on the information you read. It is a reasonable guess. An inference is NOT directly written within the text.
