Attendance Much of our learning will take place together in class. We do lots of hands-on activities and group work. Please plan to attend school every day. Except in cases of illness or emergency! When your child returns to school, please send an excuse note. Students should be at school by 8:00. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time and will result in a tardy.

***Please make sure to sign up with your child’s teachers!***
This year, James Patterson Elementary will be using the classroom management tool called Cass Dojo. Class Dojo is a web-based program which allows teachers to track students’ behaviors (positive and negative) easily and efficiently. The program is based on points, and students can be given positive points for working hard meeting expectations. Points can also be taken away if students’ are off task, talking out, or unprepared. This is an easy way for you to see how your child is doing in class. ***Please make sure to sign up with your child’s teachers!***

Emergencies Please make sure we have the correct emergency information on file for your child. If phone numbers change, please call or send a note so your child's file can be updated! Also make sure to pack an extra change of clothes in case of an emergency.

Homework Your child will have homework Monday through Thursday. Fridays homework will be to read! Homework should take about minutes. Please assist or guide your child with their homework and instructions but allow them to do the work. It is a completion grade so make sure they do their best! Make sure that you are reading nightly with your child and record it in their P.A.W. Binder in the Reading Log section!
