Volunteer Opportunities
It’s like a job Board, only for volunteer opportunities The NACE Connect listing of volunteer opportunities is very similar to a Job Board. Members can browse opportunities that meet their interest and expertise and apply directly online. Each listing provides the date, a description of the opportunity so it is clear what is expected as a volunteer, and a listing of any special qualifications and/or requirements. The benefit is that a volunteer will know the expectations of the opportunity before they sign up to volunteer.

Features Customized Applications List expectations and qualifications
Recruit multiple seats Share with other NACE Members Whether you are using NACE Connects to find a volunteer opportunity or to recruit volunteers for an opportunity, there are beneficial features to help with the effort. Customized applications – if you are recruiting volunteers, you can ask specific questions of applicants to help determine the best fit. List expectations and qualifications – setting clear expectations ensures that potential volunteers know what they are signing up for. Recruit multiple seats – if you are recruiting volunteers, you can request multiple volunteers in one request. Share with other NACE members – NACE connects allows you to easily share an opportunity with other members that may be interested. Simply forward the listing by clicking Share.

Three Easy Steps Opt into the pool Complete Volunteer profile
Search Open Opportunities If you Opt into the pool you are expressing interest in having opportunities that match your interest and expertise sent to you. You may opt in or opt out of the pool at any time. Complete your volunteer profile – this will ensure that opportunities meet your expectations when they are sent to you. Search Open Opportunities – You can also search the available opportunities and apply for only those that are of interest to you.

Volunteer Profile Willingness to Travel Industry Experience
Volunteer Interests Certification & Experience Establishing your volunteer profile will help opportunities that match your interest to be matched to you if you are opted into the volunteer pool. For example, if you are unable to travel, only online opportunities would be shared with you. Completing your profile helps NACE to better match opportunities that are of interest to you. *Travel is at the expense of the member for most opportunities (the Institute has a few rare exceptions, but that information is always disclosed in the opportunity description). Many opportunities are available online or can be accomplished remote on your own time (such as writing an article).

How to post an Opportunity
Identify the opportunity Submit information at HQ will post to NACE Connect Share the opportunity Select your volunteer! Acceptable Edits: If you are only focusing on how members use NACE Connect to find opportunities (not finding volunteers), you may delete slide 9. Notes: Submitting an opportunity to NACE Connect is easy. First, identify your opportunity. Perhaps a quick task such as helping to take registrations at a meeting to more in-depth tasks such as an at-large officer position for the Section. To have your opportunity posted, complete the online form at You will want to include details such as requirements and time commitment. HQ staff will take the details you provide and post the opportunity online. This includes sharing with members. We recommend sharing the posting with members that you think may be interested and encouraging them to sign up. NACE HQ will provide you a list of individuals that registered for the opportunity, you must confirm which volunteers are to be accepted so HQ can confirm with the members.

NACE currently has 7 established communities open for members to join. You may participate in a community without joining. When you join a community you can establish “digest” s which share the community activity directly to your inbox. These “digest” s can be set as daily, weekly or real time notices. The digest will only be sent if activity has occurred within that group.
