Services (based on CELDT data) Beginner-Early Intermediate: Pull-out services (Mrs. Ryan) Includes but is not limited to: vocabulary needed for daily life, academic vocabulary, sentence formation, conversational initiation and response, contextual language choices, active listening, grammar, figurative language, and morphology. Beginner-Early Advanced: Push-in services (Mrs. Wack & Mrs. Ryan) The purpose of this program is to provide EL students with access to the curriculum through small group lessons, individual attention and targeted instruction in academic vocabulary. Classroom teacher accommodations Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE)

Role of Parents Teach academic skills, especially critical thinking skills, in the primary language. Research shows that skills obtained in the primary language will transfer to the secondary language once it is acquired. Encourage friendships with native English speakers, especially over the summer and winter break when students tend to regress. Stay in contact with us when you have questions, comments, or concerns.
