The termly report will also give a breakdown of your child’s Approach to Learning score for each subject. This will be a numerical score from 1-5. As you can see at the side, there is a clear criteria for what each score means. If your child receives a 5 in a subject that means that their approach to learning is outstanding and that they take an active role in driving their own progress. Average grade 6.5 85% got grade 4+ English and Maths (no retakes) Average grade 4.5 55% got grade 4+ English and Maths (no retakes) Average grade 3.5 (old D grade) 32% got grade 4+ English and Maths (no retakes) The reason why we pay such close attention to the ATL scores of the students is because we know that approach to learning is crucial for your child’s success. On the screen is a breakdown of the attainment of last year’s Yr11. As you can see, those students who were in the blue zone achieved an average grade of a 6.5 (equivalent to an old B grade). Whereas students in the orange zone received an average grade of a 3. How can we help? Marriotts Year 13 Students Achieve Good Grades! In 2018 50% of all grades at GCE or equivalent were A* or A. 80% of all grades were at A*-C. The average grade students achieved was a B or Distinction. Our vocational subjects have maintained their high pass rate with majority of students gaining a Distinction* or a Distinction grade. Value Added Academic Qualification data is in line with National data with a positive three year trend for A-Level. Vocational Qualification data is excellent and is above National data. Key questions to consider What are you passionate about? What really interests you? Which subjects do you most enjoy? Which subjects are you good at? What career do you want to pursue? What subjects are on offer? What could help you answer these questions? Remember that making choices Post 16 is a difficult decision and one that takes time. You are choosing your options for the next 2 years. The choice is yours. You should choose subjects which you are good at and that you enjoy. Research requirements for H.E. courses or careers you are considering. Try to keep H.E. and careers options open.
