3 becomes the President after Lincoln
Andrew Johnson becomes the President after Lincoln 13th – abolish slavery 14th - granted former slaves citizenship 15th amendment – former slaves can vote

4 Freedmen’s Bureau Provided food, housing, medical aid, established schools and offered legal assistance to former slaves

The KKK is an organization that uses violence & fear to keep former slaves from being free.

9 Plessy v Ferguson – Supreme Court ruled separate- but-equal was legal
