This week we will be working on using a number line for subtraction. Then, we will begin discussing related facts. We will be working a lot with fact families. This is taking 3 numbers and using them in 2 addition and 2 subtraction sentences.
Also, please try to practice writing to 120 and orally counting to 120.
We will be reading “Who Works Here.” The genre of this story is expository fiction. Our phonics skill is long i and digraphs wh, ch, tch. Our comprehension skill is author’s purpose.
We are beginning our unit on the First Thanksgiving. We will begin by discussing Pilgrims, the Mayflower and then Native Americans. We will also be discussing Veterans Day. Students will be making cards for Veterans to honor at our program.
We are working on the narrative genre writing our very own stories using the new Lucy Calkins curriculum. We have been working with writing partners editing their writing.
