2 Mission Teens In Public Service
(TIPS) is dedicated to producing future leaders committed to their communities by connecting teens with life changing opportunities and internships at non-profit organizations.

3 What does TIPS do? Employs teenagers during the summer
Places interns in Greater Puget Sound area nonprofit organizations as reliable summer workers Starts teens on a lifetime of community involvement Provides employees to local nonprofits at no cost to the organization

5 Why is TIPS a good choice for summer employment?
TIPS is a rewarding summer job. TIPS internship participation is a valuable item on future college and job applications. TIPS allows you to earn a paycheck and give back to your community at the same time.

6 What do TIPS Interns DO? Tutor and mentor at risk children
Serve the homeless Work in the health and environmental fields, and provide cultural enrichment and educational opportunities to children. Work with youth in summer camps and in tutoring programs, work with elderly and people with special needs This would be a good time to give an overview of what you did and where!

7 Where do interns work? TIPS interns work in office environments, at summer camps or tutoring programs or in hospitals. TIPS interns also work in environmental and art organizations. TIPS matches skills of the interns to needs of our nonprofit partners

8 Aaliyah Berryman 2017 Broadway Bound Intern I learned that I love working in a non-profit and I love seeing all of the positive outcomes that are a result of nonprofits… I got to see children grow out of their comfort zones and I got to see parents grow confidence in their kids.

9 Who should apply? TIPS is seeking high school students ages who are: Active leaders among their peers, interested in community service, hardworking and dependable Able to work 6 to 8 weeks during the summer Must be able to attend all mandatory events! Must be 15 years old by May 31, 2018

10 When can I apply? Applications for the 2018 Summer Program will be available starting Tuesday, October 31, 2017! Sign up to receive an notification from TIPS when the application opens online

11 What you need to do by February 26, 2018
Complete Application and two letters of recommendation Letters can be ed, mailed or faxed All materials must be received in the TIPS office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 NO late applications will be accepted!

12 Timeline for applying to a 2018 TIPS Internship
Applications are due February 26 TIPS will review all submitted applications Qualifying candidates will be interviewed TIPS will choose Interns based on your skills and the needs of our nonprofit partners Notification of Internship offers will be sent by May 1st.

13 Beginning the 2018 Internship program
Internship Orientation will be held in the afternoon on May 24th Interns meet with their nonprofits before starting the internship Most Internships will begin the week of June 18th (start dates are flexible in June)
