Affordable Housing Gets a Boost
The goal of the Housing & Community Development Department’s Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP) is to provide financial assistance to qualified low-to moderate-income first-time homebuyers by covering eligible down payment and closing costs.  By providing this service, the HAP also aims to increase homeownership sustainability, positively impact the City of Houston tax base, and encourage complete communities.

Houston Market Movements
Residential real estate markets across the U.S. are active, and the trend lines are showing nothing out of a long-standing ordinary. There may not be as many homes for sale as one would like, and price increases are starting to make one look more closely at affordability, but real estate professionals are busy, and buyers and sellers are dancing in mutually beneficial transactional pairs.
In the Houston region, for the week ending May 28:
• New Listings increased 13.1% to 3,169
• Pending Sales increased 24.6% to 2,286
• Closed Sales decreased 8.3% to 2,018
