How to learn Mathematics through Art
Secondary School Lunca-Pascani ROMANIA
2
The study of Mathematics helps at systematization of:
knowledge representation Mathematical terms and notions (calculating, skills like observation or representation of the space)
3
Through Math students develop:
thinking mobility curiosity Orientation ability within the problematic situations Through Math students develop: To develop students’ logical thinking Putting knowledge into practice To promote the posibility of mathematical perception of the reality Learning Mathematics at the primary level (6-11 years old) helps:
4
Learning it’s an active product of knowledge which is as more valuable as it’s realised by own effort and by productive techniques and ways. The intelectual effort it’s situated in the top. In the theory of intelligence’s development, Jean Piaget shows that the students’ thinking aged between 6 and 11 years old it’s concrete-intuitive, this is why it needs to be used intuitive materials during the Math classes.
5
Learning Mathematics requires:
observation of objects and phenomena in their logical aspects operations with concrete objects, emphasizing the logic of these operations analysis, synthesis operations, comparison, classification, abstraction, generalization
6
ART Students learn how to do artistic drawings of objects or phenomena from surrounding using art in math significantly improves retention of key concepts and vocabulary It help students to learn how to draw various types of lines (parallel, wavy, perpendicular, zigzag, straight, curved, diagonal, dashed or dotted, horizontal) Let students to learn about chromatic, non chromatic colors – white and black, primary colours (red, yellow and blue) and complementary colors (purple, green) make students familiar with applicated traditional decorative art by using intuitive elements of geometry. Looking for expressivity in quality, structure, colour, form, measure Development of visual memory
