History at UC $124,000 in 2008 $146,000 in 2009 ! $102,000 in 2007
Began in Spring 2003 Involved over 200 individuals – raised $14,000 Relocated to McMicken Commons for 2004 $41,000 in 2004 $71,000 in 2005 $78,000 in 2006 $102,000 in 2007 $124,000 in 2008 $146,000 in 2009 ! Had over 2,500 students, faculty, staff, and community members partake in the event in 2009 michelle

Achieving Excellence The UC Relay For Life has been the NUMBER 1 online collegiate fundraiser in the state of Ohio for the last FIVE years! IN 2008 AND 2009 WE WERE ALSO #1 COLLEGIATE RELAY IN OHIO! Cumulatively, in seven years at UC, Relay has… Raised over $575,000 for the ACS… Involved over 8,865 people... And totaled of over 143,570 hours! That’s 5,982 days, or over 16 years of community service! anthony Relay For Life is now the single largest community service event on campus!

Where does the money go? Advocacy Education
Lead organization in Smoke Free Ohio Currently working to make Colorectal Cancer screening coverage available through all insurance Focusing on Access to Care insurance issues 1 in 4 American families goes through their entire savings when faced with cancer. Should they have to choose between their health or their financial stability? CAN Bus Education 66 Youth Survivor Scholarships were awarded this past year in Ohio. STAMP (Stay Tobacco Free Athlete Mentor Program) reached over 16,000 middle school students with evidence-based tobacco prevention. We educate the public on early detection and prevention, focusing on making healthy lifestyle choices to reduce the risk of cancer. Megan

Service Since its opening in 2004, over 200 patients have been served at the Cincinnati Hope Lodge Reach to Recovery program provided peer support and information to 618 Ohioans facing a diagnosis of breast cancer. 981 women were reached through the Look Good…Feel Better program. Our Patient Navigator Program had over 3,100 contacts, fulfilling over 9,000 requests for resources and/or services with cancer patients, family members and caregivers michelle

The Night of Relay… Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
Kick-off Relay by cheering on survivors as they walk the track This year’s theme is Hollywood! Contests and games with plenty of prizes Themed laps Free food! Live music and other performances Have fun staying up all night with friends! Beautiful Luminaria ceremony to remember loved ones lost to cancer and those still fighting Special catered dinner in Tangeman University Center to honor survivors Throughout the night, one member from each team walks around the track at all times to signify that we will never stop in the fight against cancer! At the end of Relay we celebrate how much we’ve raised and make the pledge to continue to fight back against cancer. Fundraising all year-round! michelle

Survivors and Caregivers
Survivor: Everyone from the time of diagnosis with cancer is a survivor every day that they are given. Caregiver: Anyone who provided physical, emotional, or spiritual care to someone with cancer during their treatment and recovery. anthony Survivors and Caregivers We would like to honor and include you as the most special part of our celebration. Involve the entire UC Community in this engaging event. This includes more students from all different backgrounds, faculty, and staff! Teams consist of 8-15 participants – get together with friends, family, coworkers, roommates, anyone! Each team is led by a Team Captain Teams and participants register at don’t forget to use the website to help fundraise and track donations! All participants are encouraged to have a fundraising goal of $100 Participants can earn 8 hours of community service for participating in Relay.
