Reading –In-class graded Writing Task This will be our last week with our Hurricane Unit. Please check newsletter each week for updates. Language Mentor Sentences Quiz Friday Mentor sentences serve as examples for students of what good writing is all about. They are a great source for identifying different elements of writing, including grammar, structure, and style. “Words of the Week” Unit 4 Test Thurs. Words Only ambush calculate contribute dread employ extend frantic initial routine stun sturdy yield Math – Test –Tuesday, Fluency Quiz – Friday (mixed multiplication facts) Unit 3: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division: (Eureka Math Module 3) Tuesday’s test will cover multiplying by multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000. Students will then begin to learn various strategies for multiplying 2, 3, or 4 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. Multiplication fact fluency is essential for our work in this unit. Please study facts nightly. *** Fluency quizzes are given weekly! Fluency quizzes will be averaged together for one grade at the end of the 2nd 9 Weeks grading period. Science – In-class graded assignment Unit 2: Earth’s Processes: Students will continue to explore rocks, fossils, and tectonic plates. We are looking forward to Diamond Del visiting our school for our gem mining adventure on November 1st and 2nd! Please send in permission slips along with $5.00 fee as soon as possible. Monday – Red Shirt Day Tuesday – Team Shirt Day Wednesday – Mismatched Clothes Day Thursday – Jean Day Friday – Cap/Hat Day Social Studies - In-class graded assignment Unit 2: The Movement of People: A Historical Perspective Students will continue to learn about Plymouth, Jamestown, and the first 13 colonies. Students will wrap-up this unit by completing a DBQ (Document Based Questions) assignment this week.
