Colic Colic is a disease that affects a horse’s Gastro-intestinal tract(GI tract).

Causes of Colic Generally caused by obstruction in the digestive tract
Twisting of intestines(aka-twisted gut)

Symptoms of Colic Severe abdominal pain Uneasiness or restlessness
Looking at flank region Getting up and down often Kicking at belly Sweating Bloat Rolls often Increased pulse and respiration rate

Prevention of Colic Follow de-worming program
Feed in small amounts several times a day rather than 1 large feeding. Check teeth twice a year Eliminate mouth disorders Eliminate chewing disorders

Treatment of Colic Surgery Call vet immediately Until vet arrives:
Make horse walk Do not allow horse to roll
